Violeta García (*1990) ist eine Cellistin, Komponistin, Improvisatorin und Kuratorin aus Buenos Aires, Argentinien, die in Bern, Schweiz, lebt. Sie ist Performerin und Komponistin verschiedener Kunstformen, darunter freie Improvisation, zeitgenössische und hybride elektronische Noise-Sets mit Violoncello, analogen Synthesizern und Gesang. Ausserdem ist sie Mitglied der Band Blanco Teta.

2015 gründete sie das digitale Label und die Musikreihe TVL-REC. Dieses widmet sich der Veröffentlichung neuer Musik experimenteller Gruppen und Kollektive aus Lateinamerika und anderen Ländern sowie der Organisation von Musikreihen und Festivals für Noise- und extreme Musik in Lateinamerika und Europa. Sie hat mehr als 50 Alben in verschiedenen Editionen veröffentlicht.

In den letzten Jahren tourte sie um die ganze Welt.

Nach der Veröffentlichung ihres ersten Soloalbums ACERO (2018), herausgegeben und veröffentlicht von TVL-REC (ARG), das Kompositionen für ein massgeschneidertes Instrument enthielt, inspiriert von Feldaufnahmen aus ihrer Kindheit, und ihrem zweiten Soloalbum FOBIA (2022), herausgegeben und veröffentlicht von RELATIVE PITCH RECORDS (NYC), für das sie Werke für verstärktes Cello komponierte, arbeitet die Komponistin und Cellistin auf ihrem dritten Soloalbum IN/OUT mit erweiterten Cellotechniken in einer ortsspezifischen Aufnahmesession in einer Höhle in Genf, die einst das Wasserreservoir der Stadt beherbergte. García arbeitete mit der Resonanz der natürlichen Akustik des Ortes als Klangkörper und verwendete mikrotonale Techniken, um Kompositionen zu schaffen, die von minimalistischer zeitgenössischer Musik bis hin zu düsteren Ambient-Klängen reichen. Das renommierte Schweizer Plattenlabel BONGO JOE RECORDS (CH) schlug die Zusammenarbeit vor und lud García ein, diesen besonderen Raum im Jahr 2024 zu erkunden und für ihn zu komponieren.

Violeta García (b. 1990) is a cellist, composer, improviser and curator from Buenos Aires Argentina based in Bern, Switzerland. She is a performer and composer in many art forms, including free improvisation, contemporary and hybrid electronic noise sets with the violoncello, analog synths and voice. She also is part of the band Blanco Teta.

In 2015 she founded a digital label and music series called TVL-REC. It is devoted to publishing new music, experimental groups and collectives from Latin America and other countries and making music series and festivals of noise and extreme music in Latin America and Europe. She has more than 50 albums published in different editions.

In recent years she has been touring around the world.

Following the release of her first solo album ACERO (2018), edited and published by TVL-REC (ARG), which featured compositions for a customized instrument inspired by field recordings from her childhood, and her second solo album FOBIA (2022), edited and published by RELATIVE PITCH RECORDS (NYC), for which she composed works for amplified cello, Violeta García’s third solo album IN/OUT, sees the composer and cellist working with expanded cello techniques in a site-specific recording session at a cave in Geneva which once housed the city's water reservoir. García worked with the resonance of the natural acoustics of the site as a sound body, using microtonal techniques to create compositions ranging from minimalist contemporary music to dark ambient noise. The renowned Swiss record label BONGO JOE RECORDS (CH) proposed the collaboration, inviting García to explore and compose for that particular space in 2024.
