Artistic Concept
Tatiana Timonina is a composer, flutist, and performer who draws inspiration from contemporary dance, visual arts, and the world of dreams. She embarks on an artistic journey, sculpting sound into physical motion and choreographing music as inner dance.
At the heart of her artistic philosophy lies a fascination with the minute, the imperceptible, and the elusive. She meticulously navigates uncharted territory, exploring internal micromovements where subtle gestures create an intricate tapestry of sensations. This gestural quality defines her music, infusing it with a palpable sense of intimacy and vulnerability.
In her sonic universe, the senses are dissected into their microcomponents, echoing the complexities of the human psyche. She employs granulation techniques, transforming sound into granular textures that ebb and flow like the tides of consciousness. The result is a musical experience that transcends traditional boundaries and invites listeners to explore the subtleties of perception and sensation.
One of Tatiana's most distinctive traits is her unapologetic embrace of extremes. In pursuit of personal truth, she delves into the darkest recesses of the human psyche and dances on the edge of intense emotion. It is within these extremes that the raw, unfiltered essence of the self is revealed. In this exploration, she uncovers the mosaic of human emotion, where tenderness and fear coexist with a touch of humor that adds depth.
The flute is Tatiana Timonina's primary instrument. It weaves a delicate thread through the fabric of her compositions, bridging the gap between the raw and the refined. Its sound brings a unique dimension to the music, elevating it to an otherworldly realm where the boundaries between reality and dreams blur. The collage technique lies at the heart of Tatiana's artistic approach. She weaves seemingly incompatible elements together to create a harmonious and discordant juxtaposition that mirrors the human experience. Through this approach, she encourages listeners to embrace the paradoxes and contradictions within themselves and to find beauty in the unformed and the irrational, even when expressed through the rawest sonic materials.
Timonina invites listeners into a space where solitude meets community and the cacophony of existence finds resonance. In this convergence, music becomes a conduit for expressing irrational knowledge—the kind of wisdom that transcends logic and taps into the essence of the human condition.
